2006 Jubilant Thai people celebrated H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s In deep gratitude to his great benevolence, Mr. Charoen- Khunying Wanna Sirivadhanabhakdi and family consulted a group of famous and experienced medical doctors in various branches of practice to initiate a project in commemoration of the occasion that would benefit Thai people at large. They agreed to found an institute specializing on kidney which from the statistics the number of sufferers increases every year and the medical care expenses are quite high. A foundation should be founded to take care of the hospital that will play an all-in-one role in prevention, treatment, knowledge dissemination and research as a tribute of merit to His Majesty the King. His Majesty, upon learning of the project, has graciously given the name to the foundation and the hospital as “Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute”.
This auspicious name bears a part of His Majesty’s name and a part of the name of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, a royal patron of kidney diseases in both treatment and research areas. HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn also graciously accepted to be chairperson of the Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Foundation. She presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony on Wednesday 25th August, 2010 and the grand opening ceremony of the hospital on Friday 10th May, 2013. The Royal Thai Army noticeably cooperated in granting the right to make use of the approximately 12 rais state land which use to be the site of Army Medical Department. School of the Royal Thai Army Medical Department for the construction of the hospital building and the nurse dormitory. The construction was completed and the hospital opened for service since Tuesday 4th September, 2012. The hospital opens for service round the clock. Provide service for both out-patients and in-patients, Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room and well-equipped ambulance ready for 24 hours service. Examination rooms laboratory and x-ray units equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis i.e. CT scan, MRI, Ultrasound and Doppler to examine the blood vessels that feed the kidney 50 units of modern artificial kidney machine for conventional dialysis and online HDF which is a very highly efficient dialysis system that can better discharge waste from the body system. The surgery room is equipped with modern technology for operations on kidney transplant, artificial blood vessels, correction of clogged blood vessels and endoscopic treatment of the urinary tract. Government officials and State enterprise employees treated at Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Hospital are able to reimburse medical expenses according to the Comptroller General’s Department’s regulations. Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Foundation and the Hospital do not aim for profits from the operations. However, they are determined to look after the quality of life and health of Thai people following the foreword given by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Chairperson of Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute.
