Kidney Disease Treatment
Hemodialysis Unit
We provide comprehensive care for patients with chronic kidney disease, from diagnosis to hemodialysis, conducted by specialized nephrologists and skilled dialysis nurses. Our focus lies in delivering quality care, certified by the Standards for Hemodialysis Certification Committee of the Royal College of Physicians of Thailand and the Thai Society of Nephrology. We utilize modern medical equipment and state-of-the-art technology, adhering to international standards, to ensure that patients receive convenient, rapid, and safe hemodialysis services.
Patients in the end-stage of chronic kidney disease may encounter the inability of the kidneys to effectively eliminate waste from the body. Cause to accumulation of waste products in the bloodstream necessitates blood dialysis to replace for the lost kidney function, thereby improving the patient’s quality of life and extend their lifespan. In certain instances, it may also serve as a bridge to a potential kidney transplant in the future.
Hemodialysis involves withdrawing blood from a patient experiencing chronic kidney failure. The blood is then circulated through a hemodialysis machine, which acts as a substitute for the kidneys by eliminating waste and excess fluids. After purification, the cleansed blood is returned to the patient’s body through a system designed to prevent contamination, ensuring that the reintroduced blood is free from various germs and remains in a clean state.
Service Provision:
- Outpatient Hemodialysis: Patients visiting the hospital periodically (2-3 times a week) for necessary hemodialysis using a dialysis machine.
- Inpatient Hemodialysis: Hospitalized patients at Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Hospital requiring hemodialysis, including critically ill patients receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Temporary Hemodialysis: Patients who are not regularly scheduled for hemodialysis at the hospital but may require temporary hemodialysis after a scheduled examination.
- Emergency After-Hours Hemodialysis:Emergency hemodialysis services provided outside regular hours and for critically ill patients at the ICU, available 24 hours a day.
- Vascular Access Procedures: Permanent vascular access creation, temporary vascular access insertion for hemodialysis, and correction of vascular access abnormalities performed by vascular surgeons.
- Consultation and Guidance: Consultation and guidance provided to patients and their families, including collaborative planning of treatment steps and self-care instructions for patients with chronic kidney disease.
Medical Equipment:
- Hemodialysis Machines: Standard hemodialysis machines for general blood cleansing.High-efficiency online Hemodiafiltration (HDF) machines for enhanced blood purification.
- Hemodialysis Flow Measurement Device (HD 03): A device used to measure the flow rate during hemodialysis (HD 03) to assess the performance of the dialysis lines.
- Body Composition Monitor (BCM): Equipment designed to measure the body's water content, aiding in assessing hydration status and guiding fluid management during dialysis.
- Critical Care Hemodialysis Room: Specifically equipped hemodialysis room for critically ill patients, featuring monitoring capabilities to track heart electrical activity during the dialysis process.
Early detection, treatment, and proper self-care play a crucial role in slowing down kidney deterioration. If a person has advanced kidney disease and requires dialysis or blood filtration, consistent adherence to dietary guidelines, regular medical check-ups, and diligently following the doctor’s recommendations can contribute to an improved quality of life and potentially extend life expectancy.
